Healing Ink brings together tattoo artists and individuals carrying the marks of trauma — using the process of tattooing as a tool for reclaiming the body and the story behind it. When AFN hosted their NYC event, we were brought in to document the day with the same approach we bring to every shoot: quiet, observational, and respectful of the moment.
Our coverage focused on the connections in the room — artists and participants working together, the concentration and conversation during each session, and the quieter moments of reflection throughout the day. Every image was shot with consent and care, mindful that this is someone's personal story being told.
